Hello and welcome to our class page!

My name is Mrs Wright, and I am the teacher of 1/2S. I am very lucky to be supported by a fantastic team of teaching assistants who work closely with children both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, providing encouragement and tailored support to help every child thrive.

Having fun is an important part of life in 1/2S, and we believe that children learn best when they are engaged, excited and enjoying their learning.

Year 1/2 is an amazing year, and we have lots of exciting opportunities ahead of us to learn, grow and discover new things. Our curriculum is brought to life through our inspirational characters: Mae Jemison, Samuel Pepys, the Wright Brothers and Sir Robert Peel. Learning about their lives and achievements encourages us to be curious, resilient, creative and ambitious. These characters underpin our whole curriculum and help us to fully immerse ourselves in our learning.

In 1/2S, we love working in small groups, sharing our ideas and learning from one another. We also enjoy working independently, challenging ourselves and taking pride in producing our very best work.

Reading is at the heart of our classroom, and we enjoy exploring a wide range of books and stories. Alongside this, we are developing our skills as writers, mathematicians, scientists, historians and geographers through exciting and engaging learning experiences.

We follow our school rules of Ready, Respectful and Safe and always strive to walk "The Elton Way", showing excellent manners, kindness and respect to everyone around us.
