Class 3/4S

Hello and welcome to Class 3/4S' page!

I am Mrs Waldron, and I am our class teacher. Our fantastic teaching assistants are Miss Roman and Mrs Hardie, who support the children in class daily. The children are also taught French and RE weekly by Mrs Birch.

In Year 3/4, we spend the year exploring the lives of three influential figures from history. We have made a fantastic start by delving into the world of Claudius and learning all about the Romans. Later in the year, we will journey back to Ancient Egypt to discover the life of Cleopatra and uncover the mysteries of Egyptian civilisation. We will then move on to learn about Dr Barnardo and life in Victorian Britain, and already the children are full of questions and curiosity about what they might find out!

Throughout these topics, the children produce work that they should be genuinely proud of. They show enthusiasm, creativity and a growing depth of historical understanding. You can see some of their fantastic learning and achievements on our class story on Dojo.

Throughout the year, pupils are exposed to a wide range of high-quality texts, from exciting fiction and fascinating non-fiction to poetry and classic stories. Through shared reading, guided reading and independent reading opportunities, children learn to become fluent, thoughtful and enthusiastic readers.

We encourage all children to read regularly at home as well as at school. Just a few minutes of reading each day can make a huge difference, helping to build confidence, improve comprehension skills and nurture a love of books that lasts a lifetime.
