Hello and welcome to 5/6P's class page!

A warm welcome to all of our children and families. We are excited to begin another fantastic year together and look forward to sharing lots of learning, achievements and memorable experiences along the way.

I am Mrs Dempsey, and I will be teaching your child this year. Supporting us in class are Miss B and Miss Lucie, our wonderful and experienced teaching assistants, who play a vital role in helping every child succeed. Together, we create a positive, supportive and ambitious classroom where children are encouraged to challenge themselves, grow in confidence and reach their full potential.

We have made a brilliant start to the year and have loved exploring the life and legacy of John McCrae as part of our World War One topic. The children have shown great enthusiasm, curiosity and thoughtfulness as they have developed their understanding of this fascinating period in history. We are now looking forward to continuing our historical journey as we begin learning about World War Two.

Reading is at the heart of life in 5/6P. We enjoy sharing high-quality texts, discussing big ideas and discovering new vocabulary together. Our aim is to develop confident readers who enjoy books and understand the important role reading plays in all areas of learning.

As our Year 5 and Year 6 children progress through their final years at Elton, we support them in becoming independent, resilient and responsible young learners, preparing them for the exciting transition to secondary school.

Please keep an eye on our Class Dojo page, where we regularly share snapshots of our learning and celebrate the children's achievements. If you ever need to speak with me, please feel free to catch me at the end of the school day or send a message via Class Dojo.

We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, friendship, challenge, laughter and success, and we cannot wait to see all that the children achieve.
